Black Lion look to stay perfect in ML
MCCOOK’S PEN, St Catherine — Front-runners Black Lion play away to eighth-placed McCook’s Pen today looking to make it six wins on the trot in the LIME/St Catherine Football Association Major League.
The former Premier League campaigners sit atop the 11-team league on 19 points from seven games and will start favourites against their opponents, who are 13 points off the lead.
Black Lion’s only lost this season came in the Knock-out competition, where they were beaten 3-1 by title-holders Portmore United in the second-round, but that defeat is not expected to dampen their spirits as they have since rebounded with back-to-back victories in the Major League.
Newcomers McCook’s Pen, with have a game in hand, have only suffered two defeats in their six games played, but seem to have a real problem converting draws into wins.
A victory against the league leaders might not do much to improve their ranking, but could just be the push they need.
In other games, all set to kick-off at 3:00 pm, DB Basovak welcome third-placed Portsmouth at Homestead; Spanish Town Police play Cumberland; Dunbeholden tackle Rodwood, while Wanderers and Albion meet at Passage Fort.
