Juici Patties, UWI win in Div 3 club TT
Juici Patties clipped visitors Windalco Kirkvine Sports Club 3-2 and hosts University of the West Indies (UWI) blanked newcomers Digicel 5-0 in two Division Three matches played Thursday night, as the Jamaica Table Tennis Association (JTTA) National Table Tennis Club League continued.
Juici Patties, who were runners-up the last two seasons, maintained their 100 per cent winning record with this victory and have now won five matches from as many starts. They are behind defending champions Pembroke Hall with 11 points and ahead of UWI on eight points, Digicel, six points, Windalco Kirkvine Sports Club, five points and Highgate United, on two points.
The top four finishers will advance to semi-finals.
In individual results in the Juici Patties/Windalco Kirkvine Sports Club duel, Courtney Hall trounced Sanjay Sibblies 3-0 (12-10, 11-7, 11-7), George Gallimore nipped Jason Welsh 3-2 (11-6, 7-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-6) and in the clash of the two captains Carlton Clarke outlasted Patrick Clarke 3-2 (5-11, 11-9, 11-7, 5-11, 11-9), for Juici Patties’ three triumphs.
Oliver Miller edged Shandar Sybron 3-2 (10-12, 11-5, 9-11, 11-4, 11-5) and teamed with Welsh in doubles to pip Hall and Sybron 3-2 (11-7, 11-9, 7-11, 4-11, 11-8) for Windalco Kirkvine’s two consolation wins.
The league continues today with two Division One matches at 2:00 pm. Newcomers Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) will welcome defending champions Athletico Port Antonio at 2-4 Constant Spring Road and newcomers Gioventu will entertain Pembroke Hall at the National Arena, third floor.
In Division One points standings, JNBS lead with eight points, ahead of Gioventu seven points, and the three other teams, Atletico Port Antonio, Pembroke Hall and Furia on six points each.
The top four finishers will progress to the semis.
