Treasure Beach, Parottee hunt first win in St Elizabeth Major League
Treasure Beach and Parottee United will go in search of their first win, while League leaders Mountainside football club will be seeking to extend their lead as action in the St Elizabeth Wray and Nephew Major League continues with five games this weekend.
Treasure Beach, who drew their first game and were beaten 4-1 by Vineyard, will host Appleton Estates in their first home game at Treasure Beach Sports Park today at the same time Appleton, who were beaten 2-0 by joint leaders Super Action in their last outing, will also be going all out for their first win.
In the other game, Parottee, who drew 1-1 and 0-0 with Appleton and Tafari Lions over a week ago, host Braes River in Black River.
Tomorrow, Mountainside, who recorded a 3-0 victory over Young Brazil on Thursday to propel them to the top of the league with Super Action on seven points, will play away to New Holland, who are on two points.
In the other encounters, Black River (four), who crushed Burnt Ground PYC 4-1 on December 4, host Young Brazil at New Town, and Burnt Ground, who drew 0-0 with New Holland on Wednesday, will be hoping to pick up their first win when they entertain Braes River (three) at the Santa Cruz Community Centre.
In another game played on Thursday, former champions Tafari Lion were beaten 2-1 by Super Action. The win now puts them atop the standing on goal difference over Mountainside. Last Sunday Newell beat the Lions 1-0 to capture the Knock out crown.
