UWI hold Cavalier in Super League
Cavalier’s lead at the top of the Claro/KSAFA Super League standings was cut to two points after they were held to a draw for the second time this season by newcomers University of the West Indis (UWI) at Constant Spring as the second round of matches got underway yesterday.
Michily Waul put the league leaders ahead with an 11th-minute strike, but Andrae Bernal earned a point for the Neville ‘Bertis’ Bell-coached UWI with a goal in time added on.
In other matches, August Town turned back Duhaney Park 2-1; Santos beat Barbican by the same score; Real Mona had a similar victory against Rae Town; Rockfort and Bull Bay played to a 0-0 draw, while the game between Mountain View and Constant Spring was not played.
Meanwhile, August Town defeated Duhaney Park 3-1, with goals from Ricahrd Hoo (23rd) and Omari Edwards (81st) to move to 26 points — two behind the leaders.

At Barbican field, visiting Santos scored two late goals to beat the home team 2-1 and move into third place on 21 points.
Deno Schaffe gave Barbican the lead in the 40th minute, but Andrew Morris scored a 90th-minute equaliser and Fabian Nethersole netted the winner four minutes into added time to give the Carlton Dennis-coached outift the victory.
No goals were scored in the East Kingston ‘derby’ between Rockfort and Bull Bay, while Mountain View failed to prepare their field for their contest against Constant Spring.
At Buttercup Park, Damion Jackson gave Rae Town the lead after 26 minutes, but Alfred Nelson netted an equaliser in the 41st minute.
Jhuvane Francis found the winner on 77 minutes, but not before Rae Town went down to 10 men when goalkeeper Navardo Brooks was shown the red card in the 90th minute.
Over in the Major League, Molynes United scored a surprice 4-0 win over Police Nationals.
In other games, Cooreville beat Stony Hill 2-1; Shortwood stopped Brown’s Town 1-0; Olympic Gardens and Central Kingston played to a 1-1 draw, while Seaview and Greenwich Town ended 0-0.
Greenwich lead the standings with 13 points, followed by Olympic with 11, then Allman/Woodford, Seaview and Cooreville with 10 points each.
