Portsmouth hunt spot in Major League round final
SPANISH TOWN, St Catherine — Portsmouth host Wanderers at Portsmouth field as the race for the remaining spot in the LIME/St Catherine Major League end-of-first-round-final continues today.
Portsmouth, with two games in hand, are tied with two other teams (Dunbeholden and Rodwood) on 12 points, but are second, thanks to a superior goal average.
The Portmore-based outfit are expected to keep themselves in the hunt with victory over ninth-placed Wanderers, who have lost five of their seven games to date.
In another game, already qualified Black Lion meet Royal Lakes at Irish Pen and are looking to stretch their run of games without defeat to nine.
The former Premier League contenders hold a 10-point lead atop the 11-team standings and can only be overtaken by Portsmouth.
Dunbeholden and Spanish Town Police (11 points each), also in contention for the round final, meet at the Police Academy, while last-placed Cumberland host McCook’s Pen and Albion welcome DB Basovak at Albion Oval.
All games start at 3:00 pm.
