Four aim to continue unbeaten run in Open League
UNBEATEN teams JAMALCO, Tivoli ‘A’, Alpha ‘A’, Mico ‘A’ are expected to continue on their winning ways when the 2010/2011 Jamaica National Building Society/Jamaica Netball Association(JNA) Open League competition resumes on Saturday, January 8,at the Leila Robinson Courts.
In Group ‘A’, which is the elite section of the competition, JAMALCO and Tivoli ‘A’ are the only unbeaten teams, winning four straight games to take an early lead with 12 points. Both teams are yet to face each other in the preliminary rounds.
Meanwhile, defending champions Waulgrovians ‘A’ have lost one of three games and are in third place with six points along with WINDALCO who have lost two games from four starts.
Blades United ‘A’ and Arnett Gardens have three points each, while Police ‘A’ and Jetsetters ‘A’ are at the bottom of the table without a point.
Group One joint leades are UWI Revolution and Friendship with 12 points each after scoring four straight wins. They are followed by Ebony Strikers with nine, Hellshire United and Rollington Town are locked on six points each, SKIBO ‘B’ and GC Foster Strikers ‘C’ with three points each, with De La Vega without a point.
Alpha ‘A’ and Alexander Strikers ‘A’ are joint leaders in Group Two with 12 points each after four games. Ravens ‘B’ are next with nine, Hagley Park ‘A’ and OMEGA ‘A’ with six each, SKIBO ‘C’ three, with Springfield and Maxfield Park ‘B’ lying at the bottom without a point.
Three teams are tied at the top of the standing in Group Thre with 12 points each after playing four matches. They are Ebony Strikers ‘A’, Waulgrovians ‘C’ and Maxfield Park ‘A’. Boulevard Baptist are next with six, New Kingston Raiders and Jamaica Defence Force three each, with Duhaney Strikers ‘B’ and Alpha ‘B’ are without a point at the bottom.
Tivoli ‘B’ and Ravens ‘A’ lead Group Four with 12 points each, while Mico University ‘A’ are runaway leaders in Group Five with 15 points from five consecutive wins, SPEG ‘A’ lead Group Six with 12 points and GC Foster Strikers ‘A’ are out front in Group Seven.
