Granville jump to fifth
GRANVILLE, St James — Former two-time champions Granville United jumped three places into fifth place in the Jamaica Football Federation’s Captain’s Bakery Western Confederation Super League after scoring a come-frombehind 2-1 win over Tomorrow’s People in a rescheduled game at the Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College grounds on Tuesday.
Granville, who were scoring backto-back wins for the first time this season after beating Mt Pelier by the same margin last week, improved to 11 points from seven games and into fifth place.
Asannie Morris gave Tomorrow’s People the lead after 24 minutes but Garth Johnson scored his fourth goal of the season to level the scores four minutes later.
Midfielder Dave Gillard scored the winner in the 66th minute for the Tracey Reid-coached Granville, who will now seek a hat trick of wins on the run when they take on Russia next Tuesday at Bay Road in Westmoreland.
The league will continue on Sunday with four games, leaders Seba United face Catherine Hall at the UDC field while Wadadah take on Cousins’ Cove at Jarrett Park; Tomorrow’s People will try to rebound against Harmony at Bickersteth while Exidos and Bamboo will face off at Friendship.
