Don’t arrest people for using ganja
Dear Editor,
This is a response to Patrick Rowe’s letter of January 7, “Ganja is harmful”.
Ganja is not a harmful substance at all. It’s not only a great way to spend an evening without the use of alcohol, which is a truly addictive and deadly drug.
Ganja is also medicinal. It is used to help with glaucoma, MS, HIV/AIDS, and chronic pain without serous side effects that many pharmaceuticals cause. I live in America and I not only smoke ganja every day but I also grow all the ganja I smoke legally in Oregon. It should be criminal to arrest people for ganja.
Jamaica has bigger issues to deal with instead of harassing people for smoking and growing ganja. It’s the hunger in one’s belly that will lead to mischievous acts not ganja use. It’s the lack of knowledge in people’s head which will lead them astray, not their use of ganja. Fix these problems and help your brothers instead of oppressing them.
