Cavalier look to rebound in Claro/KSAFA Super League
LEADERS Cavalier will look to rebound from their defeat to Onandi Lowe’s Rockfort last weekend when they take on Mountain View at Collie Smith Oval in the Claro/KSAFA Super League at 3:00 pm.
In other games, August Town tackle Constant Spring at UWI Bowl, Santos take on UWI at Bell/Chung Oval, Rockfort play away to Real Mona at Buttercup Park, Barbican host Bull Bay at Barbican field and Rae Town entertain Duhaney Park at Breezy Castle. All starting at 3:00 pm.
Despite losing last week, Cavalier still hold a two-point lead at the top of the table and after falling to their first defeat of the season, the defending champions will want to return to the form that got them 10 wins from 15 matches.
Mountain View, who have 13 points, should offer little resistant against the leaders.
Meanwhile, August Town will look to stay in touch when they take on another relegation struggler in Constant Spring. August Town should be able to get the better of a Constant Spring side that has won just three times this season and are struggling in the relegation zone.
Debutant UWI will be hoping to keep pace with the front-runners when they travel to Bell/Chung to face an inconsistent Santos side.
UWI with 28 points sit three points clear of Santos. So the contest is evenly matched and can go either way.
Rockfort, who scored late victories in their last two games, thanks to goals from former national striker Lowe, will be hunting win number three against Real Mona at Buttercup Park.
But Mona, who were mired at the bottom of the table for the entire first round, climbed out of the red zone for the first time last weekend after scoring back-to-back wins.
The Peter Moses-coached team should be brimming with confidence from their recent exploits and cannot be under-estimated.
Bottom-of-the-table Duhaney Park will attempt their second win of the campaign when they play mid-table Rae Town, while eighth-placed Barbican will start as slight favourites against ninth-placed Bull Bay.
In the Major League, leaders Greenwich Town should maintain their six-point lead atop the standings when they take on last-placed Stony Hill at Golden Spring field starting at 3:00 pm.
In other games, Cooreville play Central Kingston at Cooreville, Seaview will battle Allman/Woodford at Heroes Circle, Brown’s Town take on Police National at Vauxhall high school and Olympic Gardens go up against Molynes at Cling Cling Oval. All starting at 3:00 pm.
Greenwich lead the standings on 22 points, ahead of Cooreville with 16, Police and Olympic Gardens come next with 15, followed by Seaview and Allman/Woodford with 13.
They are followed by Central Kingston with 12, Shortwood, 10, Molynes and Brown’s Town, seven each, and Stony Hill sit at the bottom with five points.
