McLeod’s hat-trick propels August Town to big win
JAMALIE McCleod registered the first hat-trick as he led August Town to a 5-1 drubbing of George Headley, as the 2011 LIME/INSPORTS Primary Schools Football League championships kicked off Thursday at the Stadium East playfield.
It was a good win for August Town who completely outplayed George Headley throughout the entire match and could have scored a much larger win if a number of easy chances were not squandered.
Nickoli Wood put the victors ahead in the 10th minute, but George Headley produced the equaliser five minutes later through Ronaldo Walker. August Town regained the lead on the stroke of half-time through McLeod.
In the 53rd minute McLeod netted his second goal and two minutes later he was at it again when he scored from the penalty spot. Wood scored his second goal in the 59th minute.
Meanwhile, Rollington Town tagged Jessie Ripoll 3-0 through goals from Fabrizzo Burton in the second minute, Romario Tomlinson in the 15th minute, and Shamar Griffiths in the 19th minute. Rollington Town led 3-0 at half-time and despite getting more chances failed to increase their tally.
The third match on the day saw Holy Family edging Dunrobin 1-0 through a first-half goal from Romaine Bowers in the 27th minute.
