Excellent environment coverage
Dear Editor,
As a Jamaican in the US who is concerned about environmental pollution and its deleterious effects on my mother country, I deeply appreciate your commitment to keeping the environment beat alive. I hope to return one day to my beloved country and help with better solid waste management.
At this time, all of Jamaica’s landfills are unlined, waste data (volume and characterisation) are not tracked, and collection needs improvement. So, with each rainfall comes a deluge of toxic substances from our landfills that seep into our soil and run over our watersheds into the many bodies of water downstream from these landfills. E-waste is another concern. If possible, report more on this issue.
