$50-m beauty project for Westgate to Reading
MONTEGO BAY, St James — TOURISM Minister Ed Bartlett has announced that his ministry will be allocating $50 million to beautify the recently completed improved roadway from Westgate to Reading in this resort city.
“We are going to allocate $50 million for the landscaping of this western corridor… starting from Barnett Bridge at Fairfield and all the way through to the Alice Eldermire side and all the way to Reading,” Bartlett said.
He was speaking recently at a ceremony to mark the completion of a $2.2 billion-improvement on Section 1A of the Northern Coastal Highway project.
The tourism minister argued that the beautification project along the roadway will be a “fitting complement” to the ‘Elegant Corridor’, which spans from the Sangster International airport to Greenwood.
“When you come to Montego Bay, whether you are coming from the east or the west, the aesthetics and beauty of the area will provide the wow factor for all and will last forever,” he boasted.
