It’s music and football for Poochie Cash
IF upcoming deejay Poochie Cash were to name the favourite things in life, it would be music and football – and not necessarily in that order.
A former captain of Merl Grove High School’s football team, deejay Poochie Cash, who was called to the Jamaica National Squad, stands out from the crowd.
The first thing you’ll notice is that she’s not your regular girlie kind of female deejay when it comes to her attire. Poochie Cash could be mistaken for “one of the boys”, and with the fighting football spirit within her, she’s willing to take on this male-dominated field with gusto.
“From I was going to school, I always like deejaying,” she says. “From I was in first form, I was the only grade seven student to take part in the grade nine concert at Merl Grove,” recalled Poochie Cash, who is the daughter of female deejay Lady C.
The youngster noted that she has always wanted to be involved in music as she had her mother as her role model and inspiration. However, somewhere along the line, football got in the way – in a very big way – and Poochie Cash put music on the back burner for a while. But now, the young lady christened Tiffany Pitt, is eager to set her musical career on the path to success.
“My mother’s career was cut short because she had to take time out to have all her kids. My mom and Lady Saw were best friends and look at how Lady Saw’s career has soared. I want to take the baton and go all the way to the finish line and achieve what my mother could, but didn’t,” the upcoming deejay explained.
Now signed to Shocking Vibes, Poochie Cash already has out a single which has been receiving lots of love.
“It’s called Hot Dis Year and it was released in 2010. But it’s appropriate for any year, cause the message will always be the same,” she declared.
She’s currently in the studio working with producer Young Vibes and says the new tracks are real winners. Poochie Cash, who has so far performed on major stage shows Sting and Guinness Greatness, is confident that 2011 will mark a breakthrough in her career.
