Galaxy off the mark in Hanover Major League
LUCEA, Hanover — Galaxy scored their first win in the Hanover Football Association’s Captain’s Bakery and Grill Major League on Thursday, edging Lucea FC 1-0 in their first-round game.
After going winless in their first four games, Anor Fraser scored in the 21st minute for Galaxy to beat Lucea, who were seeking a share of the lead with Superstar.
Superstar lead with 11 points from five games, two more than Logwood United with former winners Sandy Bay FC and Lucea tied on eight points.
In another game on Thursday, last-placed teams Jericho Rangers and Haughton Meadows drew 1-1 with both goals coming in a four-minute span early in the first half.
Damington Doeman gave Jericho the lead in the 5th minute, but Keano Williams levelled the scores three minutes later as both teams inched to three points each.
On Wednesday, Logwood blanked Haddington Youth Club 2-0 for their third win.
Jellandre Spence in the 15th minute and Legjhon Miller in the 82nd were the scorers for Logwood.
Also on Wednesday, Superstars and the high-scoring Sandy Bay, who lead the league with 11 goals from five games, played out a 1-1 draw.
Ricardo Collins shot Sandy Bay in the lead after three minutes, but Kadian Hamilton equalised in the 35th minute.
