Boys’ Town close in menacingly as Tivoli slip
Tivoli Gardens saw their lead atop of the Digicel Premier League (DPL) slashed to just one point after battling to a 0-0 draw with Harbour View at the Compound last night.
Tivoli, who started the day on 68 points and three in front of the chasing Boys’ Town, inched to 69 points with one match remaining.
Boys’ Town, who have been chasing Tivoli Gardens relentlessly, blanked Waterhouse 2-0 and closed in on the leaders with 68 points.
Both Tivoli Gardens and Boys’ Town will clash on the final day at the Edward Seaga Stadium on Sunday to decide the title.
Tivoli Gardens, who will be hunting their second DPL crown in three seasons and their fifth overall, are in pole position and need only a draw to be crowned champion.
But the momentum is with Boys’ Town and they are arguably playing the best football at the moment and should start favourite to beat Tivoli and snatch the title from under the leaders’ nose.
Meanwhile, Harbour View who secured third place from last week, moved to 58 points and were determined to spoil Tivoli’s party, and they did.
They were the more positive team throughout and deserved to win, but Tivoli held firm for a crucial point and now have their destiny in their own hands.
