Daley relishes success with TG, but eyes greener pastures abroad
FOLLOWING an outstanding season, Tivoli Gardens midfield maestro and Flow Cup MVP Keammar Daley is now eyeing a move overseas, but has committed his immediate future locally to the West Kingston outfit after helping them to the league and cup double this season.
The national player would not reveal any of his overseas plans, but said playing with Tivoli this season has given him tremendous exposure and a memorable season and he would be working with them until something comes through.
“I’m looking overseas, but I am still looking to work with Tivoli because it has been tremendous and they have done a lot for me and have taken me one step further in my career, and I am very grateful,” he said.
The former Meadhaven striker, who was out injured for most of the second and third rounds of the Premier League, has been awesome since his return.
In the league decider against Boys’ Town on the final day of the season last Sunday, the stocky playmaker assisted on the game’s only goal, splitting the Boys’ Town defence with a trademark through pass to Navion Boyd who scored.
And in the Flow Cup final yesterday, the crafty midfielder scored a spectacular free kick from 35 yards that left goalkeeper Randal Huie rooted on his line.
But the man who has scored some spectacular goals for the double champions and is being touted as a future national star, said being out injured for so long was tough for him, but with the support of his family and teammates, he was able to come back and finish the season strongly.
“It was an up-and-down season as I was out for a while, but I came back from injury and had some brilliant games so I can’t complain.
“But I have to thank my family for being there for me because when I was out with the injury that was a very rough time for me and it took a lot of tears and hard work to come back,” said Daley, popularly known as ‘Dada’.
He also praised his teammates for their consistency during his absence and the entire season.
“We played our best football in the second round when I was out injured… many people believed the team would fall behind when I was out, but the players showed character and fought until I came back,” he said.
“But I had a lot of work to do coming back from injury and I had to step up my game and that’s what I did… so this was a very hard season, but I am grateful and I give thanks to the Almighty, the coaching staff and my teammates,” Daley ended.
