Richie Stephens moves on with Watch Over Me
“You thought you woulda get me down, you thought I woulda run away
But you only make me stronger, but God has strengthened me
Thought you woulda stop me, thought you woulda fade away, but you only life me higher…” – Watch Over Me
(Richie Stephens/I-Octane)
RICHIE Stephens makes a powerful statement in Watch Over Me, his latest release — a collaboration with singjay I-Octane.
Penned by Stephens, he says Watch Over Me is a song that deals with triumph over tragedy.
“People sometimes feel when terrible things happen, you should run and hide, but we should allow the Almighty to guide our steps,” said Stephens.
Richie Stephens who lost his adopted son Demar Graham aka Copper Cat on January 20, says he was devastated by the loss, noting that his faith in the Almighty, plus strong family support has seen him through the rough days.
“The family clung together tightly, we went through it together with the Almighty in the midst, I am not worried,” was the assurance given to the Observer.
Although it has been a hard task putting the tragic loss behind him Stephens says he will not allow the perpetrators to get him down, hence his determination to do what he does best — music.
The single says it all, listening to words Stephens pours out his emotions in Watch Over Me.
With his focus now back on music Stephens says he is busy doing other recordings and looking forward to his upcoming extensive summer tour which will see him making stops Germany, Holland, Norway, just to mention a few.
