Alleged ‘bully’ to know fate today
MONTEGO BAY, St James – Lester Gooden had a surprise birthday present when he appeared in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court recently.
The music selector at a popular Montego Bay nightspot along Gloucester Avenue had his station bail revoked when he appeared in front of Acting Senior Resident Magistrate Carolin Tie, after admitting to hitting a female co-worker in the face.
Gooden, who turned 32 on Wednesday, admitted to hitting the complianant more than once, explaining to the court that she had been provoking him for more than three months and verbally abusing him.
Things came to a head on May 18, the court heard, when he confronted her at the club where they both worked and tried to talk to her.
Gooden told the court she hit him and a fight started and he punched her repeatedly in the face. During the melee, he said, she hit her head against a wall.
RM Tie told Gooden he was “delusional” if he felt he had a right to hit her and advised him that he should have reported her to the police if she had hit him first.
The complainant told the court that Gooden was “a bully” at the establishment and behaved as if he was everyone’s boss and she was the only one who decided to stand up to him.
RM Tie ordered a Social Enquiry Report on Gooden and ordered him remanded until today when he will be sentenced.
