Flow NBL semis take spotlight
THE best-of-three semi-finals of the Flow/National Basketball League resume today with a double-header at the National Stadium Courts when Majesty Gardens confront Urban Knights at 5:00 pm in Game One and defending champions Tivoli Wizards will seek to close out the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) in Game Two at 7:00 pm.
Last Thursday, Anthony Ferguson scored 18 points (seven rebounds), supported by Kirk Ferguson (14 points), Delano Mallett (12 points) and Andrew Whilby (11 points) for the defending champions Tivoli to spank JDF 65-49.
Tivoli burst to 14-4 in the first quarter and 29-18 by the end of the second quarter.
It was business as usual after the break as the Wizards spellbound the military men to move to 48-35 after the third quarter and in the final drive JDF failed to contain the defending champions who outscored them 17-14 in that final quarter.
However, Fuertado Clarke scored a game-high 21 points with nine rebounds for the JDF, as Raymond Francis chipped in with 12 points, six rebounds, and seven assists.
In game two, Raymi Franklin will have to play a key role for the JDF to put the brakes on Tivoli Wizards.
With Friday’s game one semi-final rained out, Urban Knights face a tough encounter with Majesty, whose player/coach Baldon Todd feels his team is on track for a place in the final.
Javan Bailey and Oneil Mundle have proven central to the Knights progress, but they need support off the bench to contain Majesty, whose Havando Dunn, Kemar McLeish, and Damion Young have so far stood the test.
