Public gives mixed reactions to Cabinet reshuffle
PRIME Minister Bruce Golding late Tuesday night announced a Cabinet reshuffle, which saw the axing of Karl Samuda and Dorothy Lightbourne and the promotion of Delroy Chuck, Arthur Williams and Robert Montague to the ministerial ranks, as well as the recall of Clive Mullings. Observer intern Marvel Gordon took to the streets of the Corporate Area yesterday to hear the public’s views on the reshuffle.

I wanted them to keep Christopher Tufton (in agriculture and fisheries) since he did a great job; I guessed they changed him to something better. Now that they have split the Ministry of Justice and the Attorney General it is more money to be paid out, which I don’t think is good.
Stefan Keane – Chemical engineering student, UTech
I think it is a good step for Robert Montague to move to that post (agriculture and fisheries). But I think Dr Ken Baugh (the foreign minister) should be in the Ministry of Health because he studied in that field. However, I hope the persons selected will bring about a positive change in their respective ministries.
Grace Pryce – Administrative assistant
I am in agreement with Dorothy Lightbourne (justice minister and attorney general) being dropped.
Oliver Beckford – Political science student
In various aspects, a reshuffle can only serve the betterment of the people.
Lindworth Deer Jr – Technician
I believe it was done because we are near the election year and the JLP has realised it’s best to get their house in order.
Eleanor Jones – Managing director
I like it that Mr (Delroy) Chuck (Speaker of the House) is finally appointed minister of justice; he should have been there a long time ago.
