Cop shoots attacker in Spanish Town
QUICK action by a plainclothes cop has resulted in a gunman being shot and injured and the seizure of an illegal firearm in the old capital of Spanish Town this morning.
Police report that the cop was walking in the two when two armed men approached him about 4.45 this morning. The cop took evasive action and opened fire.
When the smoke cleared one man was found suffering from gunshot wounds and clutching a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver with five rounds of ammunition.
The other man escaped.
This is the third illegal gun to be taken off the streets by the police in the last two days.
Police report that they seized a .38 revolver with eight rounds and a repeater Winchester shotgun in Clarendon yesterday morning.
One man has been taken in custody in connection with the seizure.
