Thomas to headline hurdles field in France
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Fresh from his impressive second-placed finish behind world record holder Dayron Robles in Lausanne, Switzerland Thursday, national record holder Dwight Thomas will headline a 110m hurdles race in Sotteville, France today.
Thomas, who clocked 13.16 seconds to equal his second fastest time ever and just one hundredth of a second off his National Record set this year, is continuing his preparation for the IAAF World Championships later this year after finishing a surprise second in the final at the JAAA/Supreme Ventures National Trials on Sunday.
He comes into the race with the fastest time this year and should only be challenged by American Ryan Wilson.
Meanwhile, CARIFTA Games Under-20 100m silver medallist Kemar Bailey Cole of Racers Track Club will make his international circuit debut when he lines up in the 100m.
Bailey Cole who did not take part in the JAAA/Supreme Ventures National Junior Championships for a spot on the team to the Pan-American Junior Championships later this month in Miramar, Florida, will line up against compatriots Dexter Lee and Kimmari Roache.
Based on the number of entries listed on the event’s website, the event will either be run as a timed final or with heats and finals.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Keston Bledman, who ran a personal best 9.93 seconds at a club meet in Clermont, Florida earlier this year, has the fastest time going into the meet. Jamaican Lee’s 10.06 seconds done on the Brazilian circuit is the next best followed by Morocco’s Aziz Ouhadi’s 10.09 seconds.
