Lights out for Cemetery Road in Plummer League
MAY PEN, Clarendon — Roberto Fletcher notched his fourth goal of the competition to earn Treadlight a point against Street Side in their Central Clarendon/INSPORTS/Lloyd Plummer Memorial Summer League on Wednesday at West Park.
The former Waterhouse striker followed up on last week’s hat-trick against Cemetery Road with a 43rd-minute goal which gave Treadlight a 1-0 lead.
Fabian Pasco replied for Street Side on 67 minutes as both teams improved to four points after the 1-1 draw.
Street Side are, however, second in Zone One based on a better goal difference and with two games in hand.
The result also means Cemetery Road have been eliminated from the competition following their 1-5 defeat against Bucknor on Tuesday — their third of the competition.
They were still in contention for a semi-final place before kick-off, but a treble and a brace from Bucknor’s attacking duo of Oliver Walker and Trevol Smith ensured their elimination.
Walker opened the flood-gate after just five minutes, before adding to his tally in the 13th and 74th minutes, while Smith notched his goals in the 62nd and 75th minutes.
Lenroy Hancel had pulled back a goal for Cemetery Road on 57 minutes, but that will surely be of little or no comfort as they remained in the cellar position without a point and can only amass three — a total already surpassed by two teams.
Bucknor’s victory was, however, good enough to earn them a stay of execution as they are now a point behind second-placed teams Street Side and Treadlight on four points each, but are at a disadvantage after playing a game more.
