Media must be transparent
Dear Editor,
“Transparency is the new objectivity.” That’s a quote the media should seek to follow at all times. As a former media practitioner myself, if we are truly honest and open about transparency and fairness, then we have no grounds to condemn Delano Seiveright and G2K for speaking on a glaring hypocrisy that needs a quick fix.
There needs to be some change of protocol as it concerns highlighting the history and résumé of people who occupy roles as columnists, talk show hosts, political analysts and so on in media commentary land. They should be forthright with their background and let the people know. The people will then judge whether they are objective or not.
It is indeed unfair and far from transparent if we give comment without even a mere reference to critical facts on your résumé that may very well prejudice your view.
