Man on drug charge disputes quantity
MONTEGO BAY, St James — DERVIN Campbell did not contest that the police held him with ganja during a raid at his home on Melbourne Avenue, Salt Spring on July 30.
The 24 year-old labourer is however contesting the amount of ganja the police said they held him with.
In the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court last week, Campbell told Acting Senior Resident Magistrate Carolin Tie, he had “about half pound.”
The police are however saying they held the man with 26lbs of the weed and had weighed it in front of him. He was reportedly held with the drug in a blue and white sheet when the police swooped down on the house where he was at the time.
Campbell was offered bail in the sum of $50,000 with the surety that he will report to the Montego Hill police station once a week.
His case will go to trial on October 6.
