Teams hunt semis spots in St James U-20
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Leaders Paradise FC and Catherine Hall can secure places in the semi-finals of the St James FA/Sandals Under-20 competition today by avoiding losses in rescheduled matches at the UDC field.
Paradise, winners of six straight games, are on 18 points from seven matches, two more than Catherine Hall, who are coming off a big 8-0 thrashing of Upsetters on Monday and need only to draw their games to advance.
Heavy rains in western Jamaica over the past few days affected the schedule and several games have been rained out, including two of the four scheduled for Monday, and will be rescheduled.
The delay will force the postponement of the semi-finals that were originally set to be played today leading up to Saturday’s final at Jarrett Park
Paradise, who beat Marl Road 4-1 on Saturday, will face Survivors in the 10:00 am opening game, while Catherine Hall face semi-final hopefuls Tomorrow’s People at 2:00 pm after Boys’ Club and Juniors meet in the noon encounter.
Tomorrow’s People edged Marl Road 1-0 on Monday after blanking Juniors 2-0 on Saturday and will hope to stall Catherine Hall’s march to the semis.
