Assassin edge Tuff Gong in Domino league clash
LONG BAY, St James – DEFENDING Premier League champions Assassin played to a hard-fought 300-294 victory over Tuff Gong in the end-of-round final of the Wray and Nephew White Overproof Rum-sponsored Western Jamaica Domino League played at Father Bull’s Restaurant Bar and Grill on Sunday.
In a classic display of domino, both teams showed why they were atop of their respective zones. Both teams were levelled on 59 points at the end of the preliminaries.
Assassin, who came into the match on a high after last week’s impressive victory over Fighter Jet, had to dig deep in order to hold off the high- riding Tuff Gong.
In the other matches played, Tropical Riddim edged Fighter 300-297 to take second spot in Zone B.
Logwood did not turn up for their rescheduled match against Tornado.
The much-awaited quarter- final matches will get underway on Sunday with two matches at Father Bull’s Restaurant Bar and Grill.
In the Premier League, Zone ‘A’ winners, Tuff Gong will face fourth place from Zone ‘B’, Cool Waves, while in the Division 1, the fifth placed team from Zone B, Uptown, will meet the eightth placed team from Zone ‘A’, Morning Stars.
