Kenia Sinclair in women’s 800m semi
JAMAICA’s Kenia Sinclair is through to the semi-final of the women’s 800 metres after finishing as the fastest qualifier in a time of 2 minutes and 1.66 seconds at the IAAF World Championships in Daegu, South Korea.
Sinclair won the second heat, followed by Halima Hachlaf of Morocco, Yuliya Krevsun of Ukraine and Maryna Arzamasava of Belarus. Fantu Magiso of Ethiopia qualified as a fastest loser.
Two years removed from the controversy surrounding her gender, Caster Semenya got off to a strong start in defending the title .
The South African finished second in the fourth heat heat in a time of 2:01.01.
The final will be run tomorrow at 5:25 am Jamaican time.
