Wins for local trio at U-13 tennis champs
Jamaica’s Shaeda Nickle, Jacob Bicknell and Dimitri Bird registered wins in the ITF 13 & Under Development Tennis Championship in Suriname on Monday.
Jacob Bicknell defeated his opponents from St Lucia 4-1,4-2 and Cayman 4-0,4-0; Nickle got by her opponents from Trinidad 4-0,4-0, and Suriname 4-0,5-3, while Bird best his Netherland Antilles opponent 4 -2, 3-5, 10-5 in a tie-breaker, before getting by his St Vincent opposoite 4-0, 4-0.
On Tuesday, Bird defeated his opponent from Suriname 4-2,4-0, while Nickle outpaced her opponent from Guyana 5-3, 4-2.
On Wednesday Nickle overpowered her opponents from Aruba 6-2, 6-2, while Boird outclassed his opponent from Bermuda 6-0,6-2.
In the doubles yesterday, Bird Bicknell spanked their opponents from Guyana and Suriname 6-0, 6-0. Rain delayed play on Thursday.
The Jamaicans have been successfully in all of their matches.
