Kingslyn Avenue residents cry out for help
RESIDENTS of Kingslyn Avenue — which runs off Red Hills Road in St Andrew — say they are seeking the intervention of police to address a noise nuisance problem that has been plaguing their community following the opening of a bar in the area.
The residents claim their once quiet community has been bombarded by loud music played from the newly opened joint and say the elderly and young professionals who reside there are having nightmares.
The concerned residents complain that despite several calls to the police in an effort to get them to enforce the night noise abatement act, their cries for attention have fallen of deaf ears.
“We have complained and raise the matter to the police but it appears we are not recognised,” said one senior resident in the area who has asked not to be named.
Another resident said he has been experiencing serious discomfort and hs been losing sleep due to the loud music that blares from the establishment.
The residents say on most weekends music boxes are set up at the entrance to their once tranquil community which quickly becomes blocked by parked cars.
They claim persons behave rowdy, smoke ganja and urinate in open spaces.
The residents now fear that their property will be invaded by vagrants and fear for their safety.
