Congrats, Minister
Dear Editor,
The Smokefree Action Coalition is pleased to see that Minister of Health Ruddy Spencer is now making a move to conform to the Framework Convention on Tobacco Use to which Jamaica is a signatory.
What has been astonishing is that Jamaica breached this Framework Convention without batting an eye, so we say congratulations to the health minister. Once that legislation is in place, the Smokefree Spanish Town Emancipation Square, the first in the Caribbean, can be gazetted and become one of the world’s tourist attractions where everyone can breathe easily.
It is great that the call has been heeded.
