STETHS triumph in warm-up tourney
SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth — Ben Francis Cup knock out champions St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) warmed up for this weekend’s start of the 2011-2012 daCosta Cup schoolboy football season by claiming the Jamaica National (JN) STETHS Cup ahead of Rusea’s High, Jamaica College and St James High.
In the final game of the weekend tournament on Sunday, August 28, STETHS defeated the defending champions Rusea’s High School 2-0 to grab the title.
National under-20 player Kevon Farquharson scored in the 30th minute of the first half and Jammel Sinclair got the other in the 68th minute for the Andrew Edwards coached STETHS.

Rusea’s, the nine-time daCosta Cup champions from Hanover in western Jamaica, had beaten 2008 champions St James High 4-1 on day one.
Edwards hailed the tournament as good for the third year running.
“It was a very good tournament and the spectators and the sponsors were pleased,” he said.
STETHS were later rewarded with the JN trophy.
STETHS players Kevon Farquharson, Jason McLean and Leo-Pete Cole were voted MVP and top player, top midfielder, and top goalkeeper respectively.
Brian Brown who got a hat-trick against St James received the golden boots award for being leading goalscorer and Keayon Williams of JC was the top defender.
