Thank you
Dear Editor,
I would like to thank all those who took the time to comment on the article in the Observer on September 9, “Paula Kerr-Jarrett ponders E Hanover”.
I am humbled by the support received and more encouraged to consider rising to the challenge of representational politics despite the obvious pitfalls and drawbacks of public service. There were, as expected, a few sceptics and naysayers. Their comments have made me determined to play a role in dismantling the fallacy that still exists among what I would like to think is a limited number of us, which would exclude people from governance matters in our nation strictly because of their social background, class, creed or colour.
As stated in the article, I do desire to serve my country in any capacity that I can. I am proud and grateful to be a Jamaican. We are each one of us a unique, resilient and talented individual. I am convinced that by encouraging a spirit of unity and a resolve to co-exist we will be able to build on the foundations of our forefathers and our motto “Out of many, one people”. Let us each strive to do our part to make Jamaica really be “the place of choice to live, work, do business and raise a family”. We have been given every tool required. We have been blessed with every asset needed. We are determined. We are proud. We are Jamaicans.
Thank you, once again. May the Lord continue to bless Jamaica, land we love.
Paula Kerr-Jarrett
