PJ did it too!
Dear Editor,
In yesterday’s edition of the Daily Observer, Mrs Jean Lowrie-Chin wrote, in part: “What Bruce Golding did last Sunday, no Prime Minister of Jamaica has ever done before. He decided to step down from the most powerful position in the land, with no significant nudge and no serious illness…”.
Mr Golding is not the first to have done so.
In 2006, Mr PJ Patterson, who was the prime minister at the time, without any, “nudge and no serious illness” demitted office, and Mrs Portia Simpson Miller, thereafter, became prime minister.
Each person has the right to express an opinion on any subject, including Mr Golding’s pending departure as prime minister. However, no one has the right to distort historical facts.
