Isnt She Somethin for Flossie McNeil Memorial Cup
THE $715,000 Flossie McNeil Memorial Cup which anchors the nine-race card at Caymanas Park today is among the largest fields on the programme.
A Restricted Allowance 11 race for native-bred three-year-olds and upward, fillies and mares (NW2), it has attracted 12 runners to battle it out over 1,200 metres at approximately 4:25 pm. First post at 12:55 pm.
The $500,600 Alex’s Import Ltd ‘Dig Out’ Handicap – Race #28 of Series three, the ninth and closing event of local programming will be run over 1,300 metres and has attracted the largest field of 15 to bring the curtains down at approximately 5:00 pm.
In the Flossie McNeil feature Isnt She Somethin, who registered her maiden win at 1,100 metres over a year ago as a two-year-old and was a seven-length fourth-placed finisher in this year’s Guineas Classic makes her return for this trophy race well prepared.
Prepared for the races by Philip Feanny, Isnt She Somethin from past performances as a two-year-old looks to be a cut above her rivals and on the hunt here for her first win as a three-year-old, should keep her stable’s momentum going. Tis follows her trainer’s exploits of Wednesday when he posted Raise A Ruckus, ridden by Winston Griffiths, to victory in the penultimate feature race and then won the final race on the programme with My Heartbeat.
Own by H&D Syndicate, Isnt She Somethin, a grey filly by Traditional out of Milford Sound (You OK) and bred at Ham Stables Ltd, has not really lived up to expectations hence now returning to competitive racing since April.
Nonetheless, though sparingly raced, has worked well coming into today’s race and this being her easiest race to date should duly oblige, despite competing among recent winners and some who are now finding their racing legs.
The Classic placed animal should find most of her opposition in the efforts from Dalla Fifty, Wagon Wheel, Deliciosa and Lemonade.
Dalla Fifty led to the final 200 metres when going down to Surreal by a short head over 1,400 metres on last. From 48.5kg the Wizard Of Gold chestnut filly has risen dramatically to the top scale with 57.0kg, but will return in fine fettle and with trainer Andrew McDonald calling to the saddle the capable Shane Ellis, another good performance is anticipated.
When opening her winning account over 1,300 metres on September 10, Dalla Fifty did so in a good time of 1:22 and with the reduction in journey she should again be on the premises when this is being decided.
Deliciosa, the mount of leading rider Dick Cardenas, who has already won over the trip is another who should be taking the fight to the principal and even though up in the weights at 56.0kg should be hell bent on repairing the damage that was done to her chances of leaving non-winners of two on her last attempt over the distance by Noassemblyrequired on September 7.
Lemonade is another who should be in contention as she should make full use of the light impost of 51.0kg from the 3.0kg claim of her apprentice rider Ansley Dancel.
