C’Titus, STETHS, Denbigh advance
CLARKES TOWN, Trelawny — Despite having their perfect win record snapped yesterday, going down 0-2 to Marcus Garvey Technical in Clarks Town, Cedric Titus joined St Elizabeth Techncial (STETHS), Manchester High and Denbigh in the Inter-Zone round of the ISSA/Gatorade/Digicel daCosta Cup schoolboy football competition.
The four join defending champions Rusea’s and St Mary Technical, who had secured their berths earlier to make it six teams already through.
Despite their loss, Cedric Titus, who are still tops in Zone C on 21 points, cannot finish lower than second place after Ocho Rios lost 1-0 to Browns Town at Drax Hall.
Manchester High beat second-placed Spaulding, 3-0, to move to 24 points in Zone G and are a point away from taking a Ben Francis Knock-out spot as well.
Denbigh High increased their lead at the top of Zone I after beating Kemps Hill, 4-0, to go to 27 points and secured their place in the Inter-Zone for the first time in five years as Glenmuir High took over sole possession of second place after edging Garvey Maceo, 2-1, to move to 22 points, three more than the losers.
In Lucea, defending champions Rusea’s high beat second-placed Frome Technical, 4-1, in Zone B to move to 30 points from 10 straight wins and within a point of securing their place in the Ben Francis competition as Brian Brown scored his 22nd goal of the season.
St James’ regression continued as they gave up an eighth-minute lead to Cornwall College to lose 1-2 and see their lead cut to three points.
