Village, Duanvale hunt last semi-final berth
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — Premier League team and former champions Village United and Major League outfit Duanvale will meet at the Elliston Wakeland Centre today to decide the fourth and final team that will qualify for the semifinals of the Trelawny Football Association’s Dr Patrick Harris Knockout competition.
Today’s winner will join defending champions Holland United, Harmony FC and Salt Marsh in the semifinals that will be played later this week.
Salt Marsh booked their place with a 2-0 win over Granville on Sunday, a day after Holland and Harmony had booked their places.
Both goals from Salt Marsh came in the second half, from Richard Hemmings in the 53rd minute and Errol Plummer in the 89th minute.
On Saturday, Holland United had blanked Spicy Hill 4-0 at Davis Pen, while Harmony FC were 2-1 winners over Coopers Pen at Bounty Hall.
Garfield Stennett scored twice, the first and the fourth for Holland, who led 3-0 at half-time.
Stennett scored in the second and 87th minutes, while Ernesto Barrett scored in the seventh minute and Nelson Adams scored in the 18th.
At Bounty Hall, Dean-Lloyd Reid scored the winner in the 75th minute after the teams were tied at half-time.
Everette Mullings had given Harmony the lead in the 21st minute before Jeffery Johnson equalised for Coopers Pen in the 26th minute.
