Wealth Auto Show opens soon
JIIC, the insurance subsidiary of GraceKennedy has signed an exclusive contract to become the insurance company for the upcoming Wealth Auto Show, organisers say.
The Wealth Auto Show, convened by Creative Media and Events, is scheduled to take place November 26 and 27 at the National Arena in Kingston.
According to show’s promoter, Garth Walker, the event promises to be “a first-world event, utilising trussings, intelligent lighting and decor that will have patrons talking for years to come”.
Walker said that after months of planning and an absence of a major auto show for three years, car dealers have welcomed the initiative.
“Hyundai, Mazda, Isuzu, Peugeot, Audi, VW, Land Rover, Jaguar and Honda have all dedicated themselves to displaying the latest models for the Jamaican public,” Walker told Auto adding that his team was pleased with the positive response from the industry.
The Automobile Dealers Association (ADA), the umbrella organisation representing the interests of new car dealers has postponed its auto show for three years in a row.
And used car dealers rarely, if ever, plan vehicle expos similar to the ADA’s showing.
“We believe that the industry needs it (an auto show) given the fact that government has recently reduced import duties on motor vehicles,” Walker told Auto.
He added that the inaugural Wealth Auto show will encompass most of the brands normally associated with the ADA’s biennial show with Scotiabank as title sponsor.
