High-Fashion Retro Up ‘dos
An updo is a hairstyle that is often worn by women in search of a classy look for a night out or formal occasions. However, recently stylists have been creating new ways to put a twist on the classic look by incorporating dramatic coiffures or French-braided designs. Our celeb muses — Alicia Keys and Janelle Monae — have been known to turn heads with their dramatic, yet chic, high-fashion retro updos. Here is how you can get the look.
Products Needed
* Garnier Fructis Style Sleek & Shine Anti-Humidity Hairspray
* Hair gel
* Softsheen-Carson Optimum Care Mineral Oil-Free Sheen Spray
* Hairpins
* Two packs of Silky Jumbo Kanekalon hair
* Black elastic bands
Steps
1. Hold one end of a single pack of hair extensions and do a French braid. Seal the other end with an elastic band.
2. Spray the braided hair with Garnier Fructis Style Sleek & Shine Anti-Humidity Hairspray to ensure that the hair does not unravel.
3. Use a paddle brush and hair gel to put the person’s hair in a neat high bun.
4. Wrap hair in a tiny bun so no loose ends of their real hair are exposed.
5. Attach the French-braided hair to the natural hair using hairpins.
6. Determine if it should be a side or centre coiffure by examining facial structure. Once this is done, fold the braid strategically towards the forehead.
7. Use as many hairpins as you need to keep thw style in place and to conceal the elastic band.
8. Finish the look with Softsheen-Carson Optimum Care Mineral Oil-Free Sheen Spray.
