Harmony, Salt Marsh to contest Trelawny KO final
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — A new champion will be crowned in the Trelawny Football Association’s Dr Patrick Harris Knockout this season after last year’s winners Holland United were eliminated on penalty kicks in Saturday’s semi-finals by Harmony FC.
After playing out a 1-1 draw at the Elliston Wakeland Centre, Harmony prevailed 4-3 on penalties and will meet Salt Marsh in Wednesday’s final also at the Elliston Wakeland Centre.
Salt Marsh booked their spot on Thursday with a similar penalty kicks win over Duanvale, winning 3-2 in sudden death.
On Saturday, Holland went ahead after 38 minutes through Garfield Stewart, but Ricardo Reid drew Harmony level in the 78th and after two periods of extra time failed to provide a winner, the teams went to penalty kicks.
Jeff Pearce scored the winning penalty for Harmony after the last two kickers for Holland missed.
Earlier, Everette Mullings, Reid and Carlington Johnson had scored for Harmony, while Delroy Williams missed.
Kevis Lawrence, Renardo Brown and Nelson Adams scored the first three kicks for Holland, but Omar Scott and Garfield Stewart missed.
On Thursday, Verly Jackson, Nickoly Edwards and Oshane Stewart scored for Salt Marsh in sudden death after the teams had tied on 5-5 after the first set of kicks, while Anthony Gibbs and Oren Brown had scored for Duanvale.
The teams had played out a 2-2 draw in regulation and extra time after Duanvale came back from a 2-0 deficit after only 16 minutes.
Terrique Smith gave Salt Marsh the lead after 11 minutes, while Richard Hemmings doubled the lead in the 16th minute.
Gussie Young pulled one back for Duanvale in the 19th minute before Adrian Mitchell equalised in the 72nd.
