Newnham fourth at Optimist International Tournament
Jamaica’s Jonathan Newnham shot rounds of 77 and 70 to finish tied in fourth place in his category in the annual Optimist Tournament of Champions.
On day two, Newnham shot the low gross in the second and final round of the 36-hole stroke play tourney, which took place at the International Course at Champions Gate Golf Club in Champions Gate, Florida.
The Tournament of Champions is contested by boys and girls between the ages of 14 and 18. The International Course at 7,300 yards provides a challenging layout with over 130 bunkers and compact greens.
Newnham competed against a field of almost 50 competitors in the Boys 16-18 category. Approximately 100 junior s competed in the entire event.
