Tanto Campbell strikes discus silver in Guadalajara
JAMAICA were yet again on the medal podium after the completion of the men’s discus F54-56 in which Tanto Campbell struck silver at the Parapan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico yesterday.
A multiple paralympian and medallist at all the major international championships, Campbell was a perfect study in concentration and assertiveness as he positioned the discus strategically to earn the silver (40.42m) behind Leonardo Diaz of Cuba, the new world recordholder (44.36), with Scott Winkler of the United States getting the bronze.
“Today is Guadalajara, tomorrow will be London,” Tanto stated in a business-like manner as he looked to his teammate Shane Hudson who executed well in qualifying for both the 200m and 400m T46 final.
Both athletes were focused and positive going into their respective events and Hudson is quietly confident that tomorrow he will be on the podium when the last calls are made, having qualified with the fastest time of 49.95 in the 400m.
