A Gala Of A Cause
Last Thursday, Digicel Group chairman Denis O’Brien was presented with the 2011 American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ) Humanitarian Award at the 30th Annual Hummingbird Gala, held under the auspices of former Ambassador to Jamaica Sue M Cobb and the board of directors of the AFJ, at the Capitale in New York City.
Ahead of the presentation guests enjoyed cocktails and participated in a silent auction before dinner.
Video messages came from Patron of Honour HRH Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales, as well as President Bill Clinton. Third World reggae band which performed immediately after the formalities also added it’s unique ‘ Live in concert’ appeal.
