TEEN CHEF: French Toast
TOAST can be so boring sometimes, so why not take a journey through the French coast and be mesmerised by the unique flavour.
This French Toast brandishes crispy edges in response to the bite and melt in your mouth goodness in the middle. Selected bites will entertain your sweet taste buds from the pancake syrup snaking its way throughout the toast. The aroma of cinnamon drags your nose closer to this ‘easy-to-make’ snack that is just as tasty as it looks and smells.
INGREDIENTS
3 slices of bread (not hard dough)
3 Eggs
8 fl oz Milk
1 tbsp Cinnamon
1 tsp Vanilla
3 oz Sugar (granulated)
1 fl oz Oil (vegetable)
1 tsp Butter (salted)
3 fl oz Pancake Syrup
METHOD
1 In a bowl, add eggs, vanilla, sugar and whisk. Then add milk and cinnamon then continue to whisk.
2 In a non-stick pan over medium heat, add one teaspoon of vegetable oil. When heated, dip slices of bread one at a time into the egg mixture then place in the pan, fry until golden brown on one side; this might take about 30 seconds then turn onto the next side.
3 When bread is done on both, cut them triangle wise and place on a plate. Combine two ounces sugar, one tablespoon cinnamon powder and sprinkle over bread.
4 Put a dollop (approximately one teaspoon of butter) and drizzle pancake syrup.
5 Serve warm with sausage or bacon.
NB: Do not attempt without parental supervision.
