Waterford register big win in LIME D-1
Waterford registered the biggest win of the LIME St Catherine Division One League whipping Watson Grove 4-0 in the weekend’s set of matches.
Four different persons got on the score sheet for Waterford in Michael Jones (13th), Sheamarie Campbell (17th), Javasca Taylor (35th) and Raheem Palmer (74th), pushing Waterford to only their second win of the season from six starts and up to sixth spot on eight points.
Watson Grove, who was suffering their second defeat of the season, slipped a spot to eighth with seven points in the 10-team league.
Meanwhile, Old Harbour United and Upfront United battled to a 1-1 in their top-of-the-table clash.
Gawain Smith gave Upfront United a 78th minute lead, but Lowan Myers earned a share of the points for Old Harbour Bay in the 84th minute.
Old Harbour Bay remained on top with 14 points and maintained their two-point advantage over Upfront United on 12 points.
Meanwhile, Albion continued their climb out of the relegation zone with a 4-1 win over Cumberland.
It was Albion’s first win of the season from six matches and they moved to six points in ninth spot.
Roy Campbell had given Cumberland an 11th minute lead but Albion struck back decisively through Tavoy Morgan in the 47th, Kevon Nembhard 66th, Fabian Hartley 77th and Steve Williams in the 85th.
Cumberland, who were losing their sixth match from six starts, remained firmly at the bottom of the league, pointless.
Third-placed travelers on 11 points drew 0-0 with Flamingo, who stayed fourth on eight points.
Treadways climbed into fifth on eight points with a 2-1 win over seventh-placed Benbow United on seven points.
Kevon Williams netted both goals in the 61st and 69th minutes after Michael James had given Benbow United a 23rd minute lead.
Meanwhile, Frazsier’s Whip maintained their slender one-point lead atop of the major League despite only mustering a 0-0 draw with Christian Pen.
Frazsier’s Whip with four wins, one draw and one defeat are out front on 13 points, just one ahead of Rodwood who drew 2-2 with McCooks Pen.
Olonzo Brown grabbed both goals for McCooks Pen in the first and 32nd minutes, while Dale Dixon scored a penalty in the 19th before Andrae Austin earned a share of the points for Rodwood in the 89th minute.
Dunbeholden surged into third spot on 11 points after edging Spanish Town Police 1-0 courtesy of a Dwayne Peters 72nd-minute strike.
Spanish Town Police, who were losing their third match from seven starts, slipped a spot to fourth on 10 points, but still in touching distance of the leaders.
Portsmouth recorded their first win of the season clipping Wanderers 2-1 and moved to ninth on five points in the 11-team league.
Kevin Williams in the 19th gave Portsmouth the lead before Shamarie Shaw pulled wanderers level in the 43rd minute. But a minute later, Machel Ralston found the clincher for Portsmouth in the 44th minute.
DB Basovak are fifth on eight points with former champion Black Lion seventh, also on eight point in a closely-knitted mid-table.Tru-Juice bring up the rear on four points from five games just behind Christian Pen on five points.
