Irwin High to host COMETS Classic
IRWIN, St James — THIS Saturday’s sixth staging of the Custom Marbles COMETS Classic over distance meet will be held at Irwin High School.
It will be the first time that the meet is being staged away from Cornwall College because of the high cost being charged for use of that instituion’s field.
The early season meet is open to athletes of all ages, from high schools to club level, and will see 150m, 300m, 600m, 1000m, 1600m and two relays: 4x400m and Sprint Medley.
Meet Director Linden Thompson said the athletes will enjoy the Irwin High track, which he described as “one of the best grass surfaces in the region” and predicted a number of new meet records.
The meet will be the first preparation for the upcoming 2012 season.
