Singjay Denno is working on new album
SINGJAY Denno is busy in the recording studio working on his debut one drop reggae album. It is slated to be released early next year.
The artiste, who is signed to the Jyorken Kennedy-owned Master One Production, told the Observer that the 20-track untitled album will see him tackling issues in today’s society such as poverty, crime and greed. The singjay said he has written all the material on this project which aims to motivate and empower his listeners.
“I will not be leaving out the ladies, as there are several tracks dedicated to them,” he said.
He continued that his diversion from hardcore dancehall to an authentic reggae album was influenced by his fans and members of his management team.
“Although my dancehall tracks such as Ca Stop Da Youth Ya was well received by fans, I was also encouraged to show my versatility by doing reggae music. So I’m in the process Denno, christened Dennrick Pinnock, is a native of Clarendon and said he was exposed to different genres of music from at early age as his father was the owner of a sound system called ‘Killer Vicious’. However, it was early last year that the 23-year-old released his debut single entitled Make It. He has since penned other songs such as Gone Too Soon, a tribute to late VP head Joel Chin, Love Me, Tek Mi Life and Mixed Up Time. All of these singles, he says, have been receiving steady rotation on the local airwaves.
