‘Herbert’, Muschett riding high in school basketball
BOGUE, St James — Herbert Morrison Technical and Muschett High extended their winning streaks on Thursday when they beat Frome Technical and Holland High, respectively, in the Under-16 section of the ISSA/KFC Western Conference high school boys’ basketball competition.
Herbert Morrison thrashed Frome 93-4 to win their fifth game and resumed the lead on 10 points, while Muschett won 60-22 to join Cornwall College and Spot Valley High on eight points.
Yesterday, Spot Valley beat St James high 42-20.
In Under-16 action on Thursday, Holland High won their third straight turning back Muschett High, 44-30.
At Bogue on Thursday, David Peck scored 20 points to lead Herbert Morrison, while Daniel Henry scored 18 points as they stifled Frome from the start as they led 20-0 at the end of the first half and 38-3 at half time.
The Westmoreland school managed just one more point in the second half as the home team scored 55 points.
Muschett’s Under-16 team was comfortable as they scored in double digits in all four quarters with Carlington Barrett leading the way with 20 points, 16 rebounds and six steals, while Michael Schloss scored 15 points.
Robert Moss scored 10 points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots for Holland.
Holland turned the tables in the Under-19 game as Kenrick Lindo led the way with 14 points, eight rebounds and eight blocked shots, while Clifton Shettleworth scored 12 points.
Yesterday, Spot Valley scored their third win while handing St James their third straight loss 42-20.
Delton Carter scored 15 points to lead Spot Valley while Jamonique Brown scored 13 points and had 10 rebounds.
