Work together to rebuild Jamaica
Dear Editor,
It’s not so much about the number of years one has served in politics, or who is better able to manage the country. What is most important is to have someone with a vision who will navigate the country out of the present economic crisis. Without vision, we all perish. Without unity, there can be no solid foundation.
I’m happy for the People’s National Party (PNP) victory, but at the same time, I’m waiting patiently and anxiously to see what will be done for the betterment of the country. Rebuilding the country should not be just a job mainly for the PNP, it’s about the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) as well. In essence, it’s everyone’s job, as this is our country.
Before the PNP victory, I remember the JLP boasting about what they can do or would do if they were given another chance. Now that they have lost to the PNP, does that mean that they have shelved their plans? I’m not impressed with well spoken words unless they are transformed into action.
It’s impossible to create or rebuild anything on “fancy words” or pure promises. The reality is, we should take all plans or decisions to the Lord, and He’ll make them into reality, or make them successful.
Jamaica was once called “The Garden of Eden”, “Paradise”. What happened to that beautiful garden? At present, we can no longer use those adjectives, because of the pollution and the infestation of guns, etc.
The National Pledge and National Anthem define us as a people and what we should stand for. However, I wonder how many of us place value in them today?
We can get nowhere if we continue to point fingers. Let’s work together to rebuild Jamaica, our home, land of my birth.
