Specialist sees victory as score settled
DOWN Sound recording artiste Specialist exacted sweet revenge on his rival Hurricane with a lyrical battering administered onstage during Sting 2011: Rumours of War.
“I just gave him a long overdue lesson in how to be a real artiste, and we have a bigger fish to fry right now. It just feels good to get over the unfinished business, so him can stop boast that he is better than me now. The argument is over.” Specialist said in a release.
Specialist had been upstaged by Hurricane during the televised finals of the Magnum Kings and Queens contest two years ago, but since that time, Specialist has gone on to establish himself as a household name on the strength of a huge number one hit, Street Hustle.
On Boxing Day, Specialist hit the Sting stage in a suit adorned with ‘war accessories’ and other weaponry, and ignited the large audience with Street Hustle and then called on his nemesis with whom he had been billed to do battle. As Hurricane hit the stage, Specialist lashed him with a war version of Street Hustle. Reeling from this lyrical onslaught, Hurricane made an ill-advised attempt to tell him to return to sell ‘banana chips’.
“From him do that, him dead onstage. Mi just write him off in front of thousands of people,” a confident Specialist said.
Specialist’s new single, Gallis Anthem on the VSOP riddim is doing well, generating multiple spins on FM radio, and the video is enjoying good rotation on RE, HYPE, CVM and TVJ. He is working on an album with several tracks produced by Cordel ‘Skatta’ Burrell on the Down Sound Records label. The independent record label will be releasing four albums this year with albums expected from not only Specialist but his label mates, Toya, Harry Toddler, and G Warren.
